Missing the Westmount greenhouse?

I have gathered some of my photographs

Missing the weeping willow tree in
Westmount Park, near the lagoon? One
morning, after tai-chi, my friend Deltra
told me that the city was getting rid of the
lovers’ weeping willow tree, which had
fallen down the night before [editor’s note:
see August 10-11, 2010, p. 1 for news of its
demise].
I rushed to the island, but it seemed to
be too late, as only two parts of this precious
tree were left. I said to the workers,
“Please, call [your supervisor] as I am not
letting you remove these pieces!”
They called and I said to the lady in
charge, “This tree means a lot to many
Westmounters. It contains their love
records! I cannot let them leave this park!”
After a long discussion, the lady finally
gave her approval to me to keep these two
pieces.
It is absolutely incredible because a
young willow tree has started to grow out
of one of these parts that I saved!
I often go to the island. I feel proud and
joyful when I see kids playing on the trunk
and the tree is growing! We both know
how special and powerful love can be!
